The Brazilian Supreme Federal Court published the ruling in the trial of the first nucleus of the 2022 coup plot, sentencing former President Jair Bolsonaro to 27 years and 3 months in prison for crimes including coup d’état, criminal organization, and aggravated damage to public property.
Seven other defendants were also convicted.
Mind you, all are being convicted without a shred of evidence - which means the coup d’état, criminal organization, and aggravated damage to public property are being committed by the Brazilian Supreme Federal Court, NOT Jair Bolsonaro.
The defense has 5 days to file a motion for clarification and is considering other appeals, as well as possible actions before international organizations.
The expectation is to conclude the review of the appeals in 2025, so that the sentence can be carried out before the 2026 election campaign.

The Federal Supreme Court published on Wednesday, October 22, the verdict in the trial of the first group involved in the 2022 coup plot, which sentenced former President Jair Bolsonaro of the PL party to 27 years and three months in prison for crimes such as coup d’état, criminal organization, and aggravated damage to public property.
In addition to Bolsonaro, seven other defendants were convicted.
The defense teams have five days to file motions for clarification, an appeal that can point out omissions or contradictions in the trial.
They are also considering motions for review and procedural appeals, as well as possible actions in international bodies, such as the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.
Behind the scenes at the STF, the expectation is to conclude the analysis of the appeals in 2025, so that Bolsonaro’s sentence can be carried out before the start of the 2026 election campaign.
Our Take
Would not be surprised to see President Trump to note that the Brazil Supreme Court single-handedly bumped Brazil into 1st place for the highest tariffs to be paid for products being sent to the USA for this highest level of corruption.
