Who is REALLY Not Adequately Interpreting Our Constitution?
Senator Mike Lee's new book Save Nine is a must read - even if law and politics are not your cup of soup
One of the things that makes our country what it is comes from the right to protect or not protect what will permit us to keep our country - exercising our freedoms and liberties as well as decisively protect those same freedoms and rights.
One of the paragraphs in Senator Mike Lee’s stuck out - not because he was wrong but because we - We the People - have been wrong.
To quote the section of the paragraph that stuck out to me…
In a poll taken in August of 2021, researchers at Marquette University Law School showed that only 60 percent of Americans believed the Supreme Court was doing an adequate job of interpreting the Constitution and coming up with its rulings, down for 66 percent just a year before. It was the sharpest dip in public opinion since they began asking the question in the mid-twentieth century.
There is a HUGE assumption here that is being taken as point of reference - that those being asked by the poll, namely We the People, have a general handle on our education and and thus have adequate knowledge of our Constitution in the first place.
From my desk, this is not the case - don’t get me wrong, we are in a better place than we were since 2016 but we are hardly close to being, as a society in general, educated well enough to judge our Supreme Court righteously.
Since Roe v Wade, out Constitution has been treated as if it is a living document. Most people do not know how to argue how it isn’t and that is found in the definition of a living document versus the powers as distributed in our Constitution.
In short, a living document (used frequently in Home Owners Associations, for example) adds powers to the governing body and head with each passage of an amendment or update while our Constitution from the out start limits the powers of both our Federal and State governments.
You can’t be adding powers to our Constitution with amendments as it automatically counters the core of our pillar documents.
Hence, any argument that our Constitution is a living document exposes such advocates as ignorant.
If they keep their stance once educated on how a living document is totally opposite, then that someone (or someones) is really not worthy of being in Washington, D.C. or any State government as they are not protecting the U.S. Constitution as the swore to do so under oath.
Public record should be kept as such by citizen journalists so this can be referenced during the run up to their next election.
Back to what triggered the flag that noted We the People have been wrong…
We have failed ourselves, our children, their future by not protecting our rights and our liberties by remaining ignorant of our basic civics.
This is remedied by learning our election process as well as re-educating ourselves on why the Founding Fathers wrote what they did to construct our Constitution.
Your first step is read our Constitution - as well as our Declaration of Independence.
But don’t stop there, there are other pillar documents that must be read and understood not only for context but for why they were written in the first place.
Why?
All of them contributed to the constructing and writing of our Constitution - and yet, they are not the only such documents that were used by our Founding Fathers for this process.
If you’re getting overwhelmed, relax - this is a life-long process however given the adamant attitude of Liberals to destroy what we have now, focus on educating yourselves on which local candidates are honest and humble enough to understand what it means to swear an oath to protect our Constitution and hold to it.
In the meantime, blogs like ours are pumping content to educate you on what we were deprived of by the Liberal take down of our education system - the Bible, civics, factual U.S. history from original source documents just for starters.
You could also do yourself a favor and read Senator Lee’s book - we do not get any financial kickback for promoting this book, we do however believe this is a book that is pivotal for you to learn what is at stake.
