What's Next for the Port of Baltimore
At a loss of $100 Million a day, a centralized incident command system lead by one person is vital
It’s election year and a critical infrastructure incident such as the collapse of the Frances Scott Key bridge is nothing but fodder for politics at ALL levels.
Truthfully, even from my own experience, the politicians need to shut up and step aside - seriously.
We all know THAT is not going to happen but I am going to share what happened when one of my own projects ran into politics within the client.
Every implementation has its challenges and after a while you know what needs to be done to get most situations resolved and catapult the project towards completion.
We had one such incident with a Virginia firm however, there were 3 directors who were eyeing a promotion from the success and even early completion of this implementation.
Something came up that looked to an inexperienced sponsor as a full stop - the project wasn’t going to go anywhere unless the deadline was extended, so without consulting me about their decision making, the did just that.
What they didn’t know is a tweak on the system within several modules would have us up and running within a week - instead, they had their own technicians dismantle a few things they thought was causing the problem (they weren’t) and the project was pushed out 6 months, for which they not only lost their opportunity for a promotion but had to continue paying me the hefty 5-figure monthly consultant fee for an additional 6 months (which easily bumped into 6-figures).
The situation in Baltimore is much more dire than what I went through but I want everyone to understand just how critical it is for everything to be funneled through ONE person and not a committee nor a or a group of politicians.
The Baltimore port generates $100,000,000 DAILY - it will be a minimum of 3 months before they return to that level - that is a $5,000,000,000 (billion) loss to the economy at minimum, providing they can get the shipping lanes cleared within the coming week or weeks.
The people of Baltimore have had ALL their major industries collapse in the past decade - they, and we, need to see this port return to normal soonest.

FYI - we are archiving his videos JUST in case this situation takes a turn for the worse with YouTube yanking his videos for whatever selfish reason they can come up with, and you know they will…
Please be sure to share this with your family, friends, and social media - the more they know we know the less likely the politicians will turn this into a bigger mess than it is and cost the taxpayers even more than the billions it is already affect our economy.
