UPDATE BRAZIL: Lula Declares His Love for Socialism Publicly After House Arresting Bolsonaro
Before reading this post, you may want to listen to the first half of Mike Benz’s interview with Donald Trump Jr concerning the subversive tactics being utilized in Brazil - Mike also shares who all this can be (will be?) taken down…
Progressive Style Justice Is An Oxymoron In the Purest Sense of Justice

Supporters of Brazil's former President Jair Bolsonaro gathered on the streets of several Brazilian cities to protest against Supreme Federal Court (STF) Justice Alexandre de Moraes and President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).
Bolsonaro did not personally attend the demonstrations, but was put on the telephone by his son, Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, during the protest in Rio de Janeiro.
The former president, who is on house arrest, wears an electronic ankle bracelet and cannot leave his home on weekends and holidays, as per an order from Justice Moraes.
Bolsonaro supporters, wearing Brazilian national team jerseys, chanted "Magnitsky" and insulted Moraes and Lula. American flags and signs supporting Trump were also seen.

In a speech today, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) accused the United States of “staging a coup” in Brazil and once again advocated for replacing the U.S. dollar in international trade negotiations — an idea that all other BRICS members have refused to pursue.
Lula also advocates for replacing the U.S. dollar in international trade — a proposal that Donald Trump compared to “losing a world war.”
Lula today:
“I will not give up on the belief that we need to work toward building an alternative currency (to the dollar) for trade with other countries.”
🇺🇸 Trump on July 8:
“If we lose the dollar as the world standard, it would be like losing a major world war. I won’t let that happen.”

During the closing of the 17th National Meeting of the Workers’ Party (PT), President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva met and posed for photos with Fidel Antonio Castro Smirnov, known as “Fidelito,” the grandson of the late Cuban dictator Fidel Castro, who died in 2016
In addition to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, other prominent figures from the Workers’ Party attended the event, including the Minister of Institutional Relations, Gleisi Hoffmann; the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad; and the newly elected party president, Edinho Silva.

#BREAKING: Justice Alexandre de Moraes of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) ordered former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) to be placed under house arrest this Monday (4 Aug).
The decision was made after the judge found that Bolsonaro had violated precautionary measures previously imposed by the Court.
According to Moraes, the former president posted content - he made a phone call which was broadcast at a public demonstration - on his son's social media accounts that violated court-ordered restrictions.
The justice pointed out that Bolsonaro acted deliberately to circumvent the STF's decisions.
"Jair Messias Bolsonaro's conduct, deliberately disregarding the decisions handed down by this Supreme Court, demonstrates the need and appropriateness of more severe measures to prevent the defendant from continuing to commit crimes, even with the imposition of precautionary measures other than imprisonment."
— Moraes wrote in the decision.

Under orders from Supreme Federal Court (STF) Minister Alexandre de Moraes, police seized the cell phones of former president Jair Bolsonaro
The Federal Police of Brazil confiscated the cell phones of former president Jair Bolsonaro, as part of the house arrest order issued by the minister.
The measure was taken in response to the violation of imposed restrictions, after detecting activity on social media through accounts managed by his sons.
The police also seized the cell phone of Michelle Bolsonaro, the wife of the former president, even though she is not currently under investigation.
Minister Alexandre de Moraes also prohibited Jair Bolsonaro from receiving visitors, except for his lawyers, without prior authorization from the Supreme Federal Court (STF).
Visitors who are authorized are “EXPRESSLY FORBIDDEN” from using cell phones, taking photos, or recording videos.

Quick reaction: the house arrest order issued by Supreme Federal Court (STF) Justice Alexandre de Moraes for former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro is in the news all around the world.
All eyes are currently on the country, especially on what the next steps from the U.S. will be upon hearing this news.
DOUBLE ATTENTION: A confidential order has been issued in Brasília, and several monitoring movements around embassies are being observed.
There are concerns, either from Supreme Federal Court (STF) Justice Alexandre de Moraes or from the Brazilian government, that former President Jair Bolsonaro may receive assistance to seek refuge in an embassy - especially the U.S. or Peruvian embassies.

😎 Glenn Greenwald on 𝕏:
Brazil's authoritarian and now-sanctioned judge, Alexandre de Moreas, today ordered former President Jair Bolsonaro imprisoned at home (even though he hasn't been convicted).
He also barred Bolsonaro from: being interviewed, speaking at rallies, and speaking with his own son:
Much of this is just Moraes purposely provoking the US Government after he was sanctioned by cracking down on basic due process and free speech rights even further.
But he also just frequently bans people from speaking, or imprisons them, if they speak critically of him.

Eduardo Bolsonaro, Brazilian congressman and son of former President Jair Bolsonaro, issued a statement condemning the house arrest order imposed on his father by Supreme Federal Court (STF) Justice Alexandre de Moraes: “A prison without a crime, without evidence, without trial... The world needs to take note.”
"PRESS STATEMENT – BOLSONARO ARREST (08/04/25)
“I received with sadness, as a son—but not with surprise—the news of my father Jair Bolsonaro's house arrest. Since we laid out our plans to restore freedom in Brazil, we’ve always been certain of one thing: Alexandre de Moraes is an unhinged psychopath who would never hesitate to double down.
“After being sanctioned as the human rights violator he is—on the very next day after a massive crowd took to the streets of Brazil against him, and on the same day when new Vaza-Toga leaks exposed the rot in his office—he reacted in the only way he knows: by doubling down with an authoritarian smokescreen.
“These actions only make us stronger. Alexandre de Moraes is now an officially sanctioned human rights violator, and we will remain unshaken. The other side is running out of chips, and the chances to stop this madness are slipping away. Let the system understand this before it’s too late.
“God bless Brazil. And God bless America.

Son of Former President Jair Bolsonaro"

U.S. Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar denounces that Supreme Federal Court (STF) Justice Alexandre de Moraes placed former President Jair Bolsonaro under house arrest without conviction or due process.
She warns that Brazil is moving closer to a dictatorship
INJUSTICE! Alexandre de Moraes has once again abused his power by placing former President Bolsonaro under house arrest without a single conviction or due process.
This is NOT justice. This is persecution.
Brazil is dangerously close to becoming a dictatorship, where political opponents are silenced, not tried.
We must raise our voices before it's too late.

U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau denounces that Supreme Federal Court (STF) Justice Alexandre de Moraes placed former President Jair Bolsonaro under house arrest without conviction, following Orwellian impulses…
“One of the challenges of being a public official is that your actions are subject to criticism.
It comes with the turf and you have to expect it.
Apparently no one told this to Justice Moraes of Brazil’s Supreme Court, who today placed former President Bolsonaro under house arrest and deprived him of access to a cell phone.
His alleged crime? Apparently criticizing Justice Moraes, which the Justice now conveniently characterizes as an “obstruction of justice.”
The Justice’s unchecked Orwellian impulses are dragging his Court and his country into the uncharted territory of a judicial dictatorship.”

The U.S. Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs issued a statement condemning the arrest order issued by Supreme Federal Court (STF) Justice Alexandre de Moraes against former President Jair Bolsonaro and declared it will hold accountable anyone who assists in actions led by the sanctioned individual for human rights violations, including authorities and law enforcement
Justice Moraes, now a U.S.-sanctioned human rights abuser, continues to use Brazil’s institutions to silence opposition and threaten democracy.
Putting even more restrictions on Jair Bolsonaro’s ability to defend himself in public is not a public service. Let Bolsonaro speak!
The United States condemns Moraes’ order imposing house arrest on Bolsonaro and will hold accountable all those aiding and abetting sanctioned conduct.

Paulo Figueiredo, a Brazilian journalist and grandson of João Figueiredo, the last dictator to govern Brazil, on 𝕏:
“Anyone who has even minimally followed my work with Eduardo Bolsonaro knows that Jair Bolsonaro's arrest is sad, but completely expected.
“It was a matter of when, not if. In fact, one of the assumptions I’ve always pointed out here is that Alexandre would always double down.
“There's just one problem: he's out of chips now; we’re not.
“Of course there will be a response. But the next interesting moves to watch aren’t Alexandre’s — they’re those of the system that backed him. And don’t believe public bluster… Behind the scenes, things are much more lively. The game goes on.”
TupiReport Admin comment:
Considering that the conviction of the former president by the 1st panel is seen as a certainty, the most plausible possibility is that Jair Bolsonaro will remain imprisoned until he is convicted.
Therefore, it was the last day the 38th president of Brazil walked the streets for quite some time. However, there's no way to know if Brazil will withstand the upcoming reactions.
Undeniably, the external sentiment toward the country is deteriorating.
Lula only survives if the international/external image remains untouchable and clean, regardless of the internal image becoming trash.
It’s been that way in every term, with Obama’s support helping sustain the leftist-PT regime.
Now, all wills will be put to the test: there is no path ahead but escalation—be it sanctions or tariffs. The winner is the one who remains standing.
Our comment:
As Mike Benz has shared in his video at the top of this post, there are still options to be played. Paulo is correct in saying “he's out of chips now; we’re not” - the Achilles heel of Lula and Maoraes is organized crime. When he was an attorney, Moraes persistently defended them and Lula consistently embraced them. It is no mistake that the Northeast region of Brazil, where Lula has lived most of his life, is also the most ridden part of Brazil.

The President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), during the inauguration of Edinho Silva as the new president of the Workers’ Party (the ruling party), admitted that there is an intention to implement socialism in Brazil by his party and its members
“In my 2003 speech [at the presidential inauguration], the strongest thing I said was that if by the end of my term I had ensured that every woman, every man, and every child had lunch, breakfast, and dinner, I would have fulfilled the mission of my life. That is too little for a leftist party. A leftist party wants the president to say that he will achieve socialism.
“But there’s one thing the union taught me: not to make bold claims about things I cannot accomplish (...) Political leadership, Edinho, is exactly that, man. It’s having the courage to look a soldier in the eye and say: ‘Let’s go to war.’ But with that same courage, you have to look and say: ‘Let’s stop the war.’ That’s the difference between a leader and a boaster.”
The full speech is currently not available in good quality, as the recordings were not released by the event organizers, and the broadcaster responsible, CNN Brazil, cut the footage at the moment Lula was commenting on socialism.
Our comment: This is a bookmark event that needs to be brought up once Lula has seen treason charges, so to bring charges against CNN Brasil as well.

Portuguese MP and leader of the Chega party, André Ventura, reacted to the house arrest of former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro, ordered by Supreme Federal Court (STF) Justice Alexandre de Moraes
According to the European politician, Bolsonaro’s arrest represents the “total decay of Brazilian democracy” and should receive an official note of censure from the Portuguese government
“Brazil needs us to denounce who’s in charge there now - the corrupt power of Lula da Silva [President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva].
We will not allow them to do whatever they want in the country; we will not allow Judge Alexandre de Moraes to act as he pleases.
Bolsonaro was placed under house arrest because of videos he posted on social media, for exercising his freedom of speech.
It’s not about agreeing or disagreeing with Bolsonaro - the point is that Lula is a corrupt man, a dictator who wants to turn Brazil into a dictatorship.
Alexandre de Moraes is the judicial arm of that dictatorship, and we need to understand that Brazil is no longer living in a democracy.”
Ventura added that he will present a proposal to the Portuguese government to bar Moraes from entering Portugal.
“[...] We must denounce the corrupt government of Brazil. I will propose that the government ban Judge Alexandre de Moraes from entering Portugal or having any ties to the country, whether presence or property. They need to realize we are not playing around — freedom and democracy must be taken seriously.”

The government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) is considering including strategic minerals, such as so-called "rare earths," in negotiations aimed at reversing the 50% tariff imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump on Brazilian products.
The proposal under discussion envisions a model of industrial cooperation — involving investment by American companies in the production of components in Brazil — rather than agreements limited to resource extraction.
Finance Minister Fernando Haddad stated that this type of collaboration could expand bilateral trade and attract investment in areas such as high-efficiency battery production. Other points under debate include incentives for artificial intelligence data centers in Brazil, a topic under discussion since May with the new regulatory framework for the sector.
Our comment: Lula doesn’t get it - until Moraes is gone or means have been made to rein him in satisfactorily, and Lula backs away from his ties with organized crime, the Brazilian government is going to be selectively sanctioned by Trump

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) says he will become increasingly "more leftist and socialist."
The head of state made the statement during a speech at the meeting of the National Council for Food and Nutritional Security (Consea), held at the Palácio do Planalto.
"It must be understood that Brazil can do much more.
“We can greatly improve the country’s situation.
“We can do far more than what we are currently doing.
“That is the challenge for someone who has already been president 3 times.
“Each time I have to do more.
“It means I’ll be increasingly more leftist, more socialist, and I’ll keep believing that we are capable of more."

The government of Argentine President Javier Milei has announced a task force to combat the presence of the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) in Argentina, aiming to prevent infiltration by the Brazilian criminal organization.
The announcement was made by Minister of National Security Patricia Bullrich during a press conference alongside the newly appointed director of the Federal Investigation Department (DFI) of the Argentine Federal Police, Commissioner General Pascual Mario Bellizzi.
According to Bullrich, investigations have uncovered typical PCC practices within Argentine prisons, including initiation and baptism rituals in which new faction members receive a registration number — methods that replicate the PCC’s modus operandi in Brazil.
Bellizzi noted that there is not yet significant circulation of PCC-affiliated criminals in Argentina, but authorities will maintain surveillance to prevent their establishment in the country “at all costs,” stating that such groups are “extremely violent and bring crime with them.”
