The UN Human Rights Office said this Friday that any action by a State to confront drug trafficking must respect international law.
That statement was heard after the attack launched this week by the United States against a boat that supposedly belonged to the Venezuelan criminal organization Tren de Aragua and that was sailing through the Caribbean Sea.
In that military action, the United States said it had killed 11 “narcoterrorists”.
UN human rights spokesperson Ravina Shamdasani said in Geneva that this cannot justify his murder: “Regarding the crimes related to that, to be clear, people should not be killed for consuming, trafficking, sell or possess drugs”.
The US Department of Defense has indicated that this is only the beginning of a campaign against the cartels, which, according to Washington, are controlled by the Government of Venezuela.
The UN spokesperson added that the fight against drug trafficking must not escape the principles of legality and that officials are responsible for complying with them:
“To be clear, the intentional use of lethal force is only permitted as a measure of last resort against a person who represents an imminent threat to life”.
If there are deaths in a law enforcement operation, they must be investigated independently, quickly, and transparently, Shamdasani said.

Our Note
This should not come as a surprise to those who have been following the U.N. for the past 30+ years.
The membership is now mostly Muslim; Jews and Christians are not important to them, and anyone providing money to Islam is to be protected.
One only has to research the U.N.’s reactions to any Muslim attacks, especially the October 7th attack.
Just follow the money…
