Here’s something most do not know…
Social media use triggers the release of dopamine, a neurotransmitter that reinforces rewarding behaviors, similar to how addictive substances like drugs and alcohol affect the brain.
When measured against one another, dopamine is more habitual than most drugs and definitely more than alcohol (sans drunkenness), and can be for many even more of a challenge to break.
Allowing your kids to use social media without any form of discipline (like only an hour a day), is akin to having an unlocked alcohol cabinet and letting them drink what they want.
This frequent engagement with social media and video games results in dopamine spikes, which can lead to dopamine dysregulation over time.
