Presumption of Innocence vs Presumption of Guilt
We have a new post coming out soon dealing with the basic differences of Brazilian and American law that are at the base of the current fiasco...
Freedom of speech is a good thing despite what ANY Leftists say otherwise - especially when the basis of a person’s legal principle is the presumption of innocence.
What happens when the basis of a person’s legal principle is the presumption of guilt?
What then?
What happens to freedom of speech?
Or even better, in what environment does freedom of speech thrive?
Mind you - we are not talking about people who love to personally attack anyone but we are talking about people who challenge ideas, concepts, and principles by focusing on the topic.
As most of our followers already know, there are way too many who believe their opinion should be law.
The presumption of guilt has existed for thousands of years - the presumption of innocence only for a few centuries.
Tyranny, socialism, communism, feudalism, fascism, and dictatorships (not limited to this list) all embrace the presumption of guilt.
Presumption of guilt is one of the reasons Brazil has been given the False Democracy label as there are, even before now, laws and regulations that dictate how a person can behave and what a person can and cannot say.
More coming in this post within the next day or so…
