Ortega Bans Holy Week In Nicaragua
via Tupi Report, Telegram
🇳🇮🚫✝️🙏 — The dictatorship of Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua has prevented the return to the country of a priest who traveled to the United States and has banned the enactment of the Passion of Christ across the territory.
🖥 "The Sandinista dictatorship is preventing Father Jalder Hernández from entering Nicaragua. The priest was on a pastoral mission in the United States," stated lawyer and researcher Martha Patricia Molina, who investigates and denounces the persecution of Christians in the country, according to information published by the 100% Noticias website on Monday (14).
➡️ Hernández is the parish priest of the Santiago Apóstol Church in Jinotepe, in the department of Carazo, and in 2018, he was assaulted at the parish by paramilitaries loyal to Ortega. Molina stated that his case is the second of a priest being blocked from returning to Nicaragua during the current Lent.
❌ Additionally, as part of the persecution of Christians in the country, Ortega's dictatorship has banned enactments of the Passion of Christ for the third consecutive year.
Public processions have also been prohibited — on Sunday (13), the Palm Sunday procession at the Managua Cathedral, the capital of the country, was held in the church’s atrium.
