We had no idea - until now…
Jeffrey Sachs and George Soros have a relationship as patron and protégé, with Soros being a significant financial backer and supporter of Sachs’s initiatives.
Soros pledged and donated millions of dollars to Sachs’s Millennium Villages Project, a plan aimed at global poverty eradication, through his Open Society Foundations.
Both Sachs and Soros have been critical of institutions like the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and its policies, arguing they have failed developing countries.
Perspectives
Sachs as a visionary economist and effective humanitarian…
Sachs is recognized as a brilliant economist and a key figure in addressing global issues, including health care financing, disease control, and poverty eradication, working with entities like the UN and WHO.
Soros considered his investment in Sachs’s Millennium Villages Project to have an attractive “risk-reward ratio” and a good humanitarian investment, even with a large sum like $50 million.
Sachs has been described as having a “messianic quality” and has been a leading advocate for the Global South, shifting from neoliberal orthodoxy.
Criticism of Sachs’s policies and Soros’s funding…
Sachs’s policies for global poverty eradication, particularly the Millennium Villages Project, have been controversial and criticized for flawed methodology, with some concluding the project was a failure.
Critics question why the UN and George Soros’ Open Society Foundations continued to fund Sachs and support the Millennium Villages Project despite its issues.
Soros’s pledge of $50 million to the Millennium Villages Project sparked an uproar within his Open Society Foundations, with some expressing concerns about how scarce resources were being spent.
Sachs has recently been criticized for making conspiratorial outbursts and speaking on fringe platforms, questioning his legacy.
Soros as a controversial and influential figure…
Soros is often portrayed as a central figure in misinformation and conspiracy theories, particularly among extremists who accuse him of being part of a globalist agenda and manipulating political outcomes.
Soros is accused of funding various progressive causes, including legal operations, anti-Israel initiatives, Black Lives Matter, and leftist politicians and district attorneys, with critics raising concerns about his motivations and the potential for societal decay.
Some sources condemn Soros for being disconnected from communities affected by crime and allegedly promoting policies that contribute to societal harm, likening him to a “reptilian demon scumbag.”
