Exactly what I was thinking...who would bother to watch if it was known ahead of time that it would be a self-promoting infomercial? So Trump can be foxy...currently, I've come to think that Trump parking a huge naval presence beside Venezuela but not using it may be his way of pretending to support little Marco while not actually letting him get the war he wants. Eventually, Trump will back down and get Rubio to resign to take the blame for the embarrassment of pushing for the ultimately futile (and expensive) display of threat. So perhaps Trump was listening to the rational pundits like Col.Macgregor after all.
...and then I just think: nah, probably just Trump acting impulsively and "winging it" through a fraught situation without bothering to listen to actual intelligence briefings, just to puff himself up in a show of naked hubris (a sort of "elderly politician erectile dysfunction compensation" ploy).
Or maybe nothing is worked out in advance, but instead left up to the unforeseeable repercussions of a butterfly's wing flap in Venezuela potentially causing a change of plans in D.C. (with apologies to chaos theory's Edward Lorenz).
You're projecting your thinking process onto a billionaire - billionaires never think that way... SMH I realize you are reiterating what Glen said, and you're both playing checkers while Trump's playing 4D chess... I am NOT saying I know why he did what he did. I do know he never broadcast his intentions until he was doing what he intended to do. Even then, we find out later on that we had the context of it all incorrect, and he did what he did for a different reason altogether. Either way, we'll all know soon enough why he did what he did tonight. If anything, he does not waste money, his or the taxpayers'...
