How to Navigate All the Bias in the Media Ecosystem?
It is simple, but it does require something most people don’t want to give up…
You have to give up convenience for a LITTLE work.
I know, I know, who wants to work, even if it is simple, when reading just the headlines or the first paragraph will do, right?
The benefit you will get from this simple work:
You are going to live and feel better about what you know.
If you are easily triggered, you’ll also discover you are not as easily triggered as you are now.
What do you need to do?
Diversify your sources
When you find a topic of interest in any source, rely on news outlets and other sources besides news across the political spectrum, including those from both left-leaning and right-leaning perspectives.
Build a library of sources, bookmark them in a folder on your browser - some browsers will have sidebars to organize this as well.
If you use AI, use multiple AI platforms - bias is not just in news sources…
Please do NOT rely on platforms like GroundNews or SANS to do it for you,
They are making the discernment for you, sometimes even TO you.
YOU want to be exercising your discernment, which eventually, if you are doing it right, strengthens your critical thinking, or in some cases actually starts you thinking critically for the first time in your life (not a slam, have seen this happen when others have heeded my advice).
Discernment is the same as a muscle;
The less you use it, the more likely you are to lose it…
Perhaps almost altogether.
