About Ilan Berman
Ilan I. Berman, born on December 23, 1975, is an American lawyer and policy analyst who serves as the Senior Vice President of the American Foreign Policy Council in Washington, D.C.
He specializes in regional security issues concerning the Middle East, Central Asia, and the Russian Federation.
Berman holds a BA in Politics from Brandeis University and has consulted for various governmental agencies, including the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency and the U.S. Department of Defense.
Berman is also the Editor-in-Chief of STATECRAFT & STRATEGY and the editor of The Journal of International Security Affairs.
He is a prolific writer, contributing monthly columns for Forbes and Newsweek, and is the author of the Substack publication "Present Dangers," which focuses on foreign policy and national security.
Additionally, he is a member of the Associated Faculty at Missouri State University’s Department of Defense and Strategic Studies and serves on the Board of Directors for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty and the Middle East Broadcasting Networks.
